Colourform is a sample library designed to create atmospheric and organic sounds through a unique color-based blending system. It features a collection of sounds sourced from various abstract materials, allowing for a diverse sonic palette that emphasizes texture and atmosphere.

The library includes 19 core patches, each containing 12 layers of sound, resulting in a total of 76 NKI patches. The core feature is the three color wheels, which function similarly to oscillators in a synthesizer, allowing users to blend sounds by selecting colors that represent different audio sources. The sounds are derived from a variety of materials, including pitchforks, glass bowls, creaky gates, spanners, rain, thunder, fire, water, miscellaneous metal, CRT screens, bowed glass, and plucked strings. This variety contributes to the library's atmospheric character.
Version 2.0 introduces enhancements in voice handling for improved CPU efficiency, along with a new panel that provides ADSR, filter, and volume controls for each layer. The FrozenPlain Effects Engine is also integrated, offering 13 effects such as reverb, arpeggiator, and granular synth effects like atomise and scatter. Users can randomize sounds for unexpected musical outcomes, and presets can be saved for quick recall. The interface is designed to facilitate intuitive sound design, making it suitable for creating unique textures and ambient soundscapes.
